A imagem condensa o discurso, aquilo que só é possível expor em vários parágrafos de texto, um desenho revela em um piscar de olhos. No entanto, para “ler” o desenho, é preciso se deter, examinar, descodificar a informação que, no caso de Bayrol Jiménez, acontece na forma de uma correnteza: se ficarmos na frente, batemos; se persistirmos, somos arrastados. Com efeito, dois fios atravessam o seu trabalho: de um lado, o fio do desenho, isto é, o risco; de outro, o fio narrativo, isto é, a história; ambos misturados na sua produção plástica, que alcança soluções surpreendentes. Assim, em murais efêmeros como King Codex, os desenhos passam de um conjunto de folhas dispostas sobre a parede à parede mesma; e o papel deixa de ser suporte para, abandonando o muro, apropriar-se do espaço.
Em Frestas – Trienal de Artes, Jiménez participa com dois projetos. Um mural desenvolvido durante as duas semanas precedentes à mostra e a obra – realizada com Rolando Martínez – O peso morto dos dias perdidos. Trata-se de uma peça na qual lonas semelhantes àquelas usadas por movimentos Sem Teto ou vendedores ambulantes formam uma grande capa, suportada por um objeto esquisito: entre uma cabeça olmeca e um obstáculo para que os carros não estacionem. Assim, um passado milenar e um presente selvagem são sobrepostos, em um diálogo sempre presente no trabalho desse artista oaxaquenho. 

The image condenses the discourse, which is only possible to convey in various paragraphs of text, while a drawing is revealed at a glance. Nevertheless, to “read” the drawing, one must take time to examine it, to decode the information which, in the case of Bayrol Jiménez, takes place in the form of a current: if we stand in front of it, we flutter, if we persist, we are swept away. Jiménez’s work is pervaded by two threads: on the one hand, the thread of drawing, that is, the line; on the other, the narrative thread, that is, the story; both are mixed in his artistic production that achieves surprising solutions. Thus, in ephemeral mural paintings like King Codex, the drawings pass from a set of sheets arranged on the wall to the wall itself; the paper thus stops being a support as it leaves the wall and appropriates space.
Jiménez is participating in Frestas – Trienal de Artes with two projects. A mural developed during the two weeks preceding the show, along with the work – made together with Rolando Martínez – El peso muerto de los días perdidos [The Dead Weight of the Lost Days]. It is a piece where tarps similar to those used by the Sem Teto [Homeless] movements or by street vendors form a large tent-like cover, supported by a strange object: a cross between an Olmec head and an obstacle to prevent cars from parking somewhere. Thus, an age-old past and a wild present are overlaid, in a dialogue constantly present in the work of this Oaxacan artist.
